LA BLANCHISSERIE

CYRILLE AND CAROLINE TROUBETZKOY, DIRECTORS OF THE GALLERY LA BLANCHISSERIE IN PARIS WILL PRESENT AT THE SECOND EDITION OF VOLTA, THE JUNIOR BÂSEL FAIR, THE FRENCH ARTIST ARNAUD MAGUET.

Is this your first fair in New York ?
Yes, And Volta N.Y. is a very young and interesting fair near the Empire State Builing now managed by the Armory Show.

Ready to conquer the Big Apple ?
More than ever ! The fair will give the Blanchisserie new international exposure, and create new contacts.

What will you bring ?
A show of Arnaud Marguet called La Répétition (Not the Practice) referring to the reproduction process in art, and to musical rehearsing for which he refers to the 50’s and the 60’s music and movies through Warhol. The stand is covered with panties worn by girls sitting on a Xerox machine. On a wall, a light box, blank Generation, is covered by a hundred of blank audio tapes. Arnaud also imitates Elvis’s handwriting, reproducing the last letter he wrote and sent to his producer before he died. For Dark Side of the Moon, he reproduced the cake he used to cook his space cakes and through which he once saw the moon. Arnaud, in fact, talks about how the underground culture became pop culture. He talks about the icons of the American culture, and blues too, it is really very beautiful.

What are your expectations for Volta NY ?
Keep working and meet new passionate collectors. We also intend to take the opportunity to visit New York artists.

What negative thing could happen ?
That the plane crashes between Paris and New York and that all the works are destroyed.

Which are your favorites New York artists, past or present ?
Hubert Selby Jr, Andy Warhol, Velvet Underground, Factory people, Eric Dolphy, Jonas Mekas Suicide, Weegee, Pulic Ennemy, Silver Apples.
